Cloudflare's mission is to help build a better internet. In 2014, Cloudflare created Project Galileo to help keep at-risk public interest organization’s websites online, for free. As part of Project Galileo, we have assisted in protecting websites which offer “election protection”, helping to ensure that individuals around the world have an opportunity to participate in their democracies. In the last few years, Cloudflare has seen repeated reports of cyberattacks against global election systems. Scarce budgets have too often precluded governments from procuring the resources needed to prevent these attacks. In September, in the US, the Department of Homeland Security informed 21 states that their voter registration files or public election websites had been targeted for cyber attack.

Election websites should not fail on election day because of an increase in traffic – whether legitimate or illegitimate. Voters must have confidence that officials are doing everything they can to safeguard the integrity of election and voter data. Because Cloudflare believes it is important to protect the democratic institutions in which citizens place their trust, the Pericles Project will protect global election websites for free. If you run an election website anywhere around the world, we're ready to offer our highest levels of protection for free. Our services include, but are not limited to:
